New Plymouth District Council is our first software client to go-live with the Adapt Task Management System (ATMS). Fortunately, it's been one of the smoothest projects that Nige and I have been involved in with very little fuss and fanfare.

Christian and I were on site to make sure that it all went well and did the software install during the evening when everyone was off the production servers. We walked out of the building pretty happy that the install went smoothly, but we both knew that was just the start. Tomorrow when the users hit the deck is when things really get put to the test.....

The next day we arrived early, before anyone else just to make sure we where there if anyone needed us. Strangely, it was quiet....really quiet. We waited for a call to say 'hey, guys we need a hand here' or 'I need to do this, but I don't think the setup is right' but instead, nothing. Curious, we logged in and had a peek to see what people were up to and sure enough they were entering and assigning tasks almost straight away.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm very happy that it all went smoothly. It's just that I've worked on plenty of software projects with previous employers and more often than not the go-live is accompanied by some degree of difficulty or teething problems. In a way, I was expecting problems. However lessons learnt from previous jobs and projects had paid off since fortunately now Nige and I are in charge of what we will promise and deliver, we done just that. Instead of over promise and under deliver as so often happens. We defined clear objectives up front and made sure we all stuck to them. At the end of the day, it was a great result for everyone.

So, now the guys are churning out the tasks, assigning work done to assets, entering costs (quoted and actual) and completing the tasks to match the end of month claim from the various contractors.

All in all, a very rewarding project for us. The guys at New Plymouth put a lot of faith in us and it's a great feeling to deliver what we think is a great product. A heart felt thanks to all who were involved in the project at New Plymouth and also to Nige who done a majority of the work at the Adapt end through the project implementation.

For a bit more information on the project, you can check out the press release from our News and Discussions page http://www.adaptsolutions.co.nz/news.html. You can also see some more on ATMS from our products page at http://www.adaptsolutions.co.nz/products.html.

Cheers,

Jamie
