On the 2nd of February 2009 Selwyn District Council (SDC) and Sicon Limited went live with the Adapt Work Management and Mobile applications. Adapt Solutions would like to thank all members of the project team for their efforts during the project.
SDC is responsible for the management of over 350km of piped reticulation assets and over 2000km of water race assets. Sicon Limited, the council’s physical works contractor is responsible for the maintenance of these infrastructural assets.
The proposed solution required; - An overarching workforce portal – to consume customer call centre data, asset inventory data, GIS data and contract schedule maintenance programmes.
- A communication framework – to ensure any data submitted to the system must comply with business rules to improve data accuracy.
- A mobile workforce application – which is not built as a standalone one-off application. Rather an application which will mirror the same data entry logic as in office systems.
- A mobile workforce application – to consume new business functions easily in the future.
- A system to reduce paper and deliver in-office information beyond the office.
The Adapt Enterprise software architecture was easily able to accommodate this mash up of information and this meant data could be shared with legacy systems and mobilised to the workforce rapidly. SDC and Sicon now have an environment which tracks a request from the public right through to the field. Field workers can leverage technologies like GIS and GPS to shorten the time spent locating assets and entering data. To enable live in-office monitoring of workloads and KPI’s, the field response and work progress is tagged all the way through to closure. Because Adapt’s software is so accommodating of change, SDC has already earmarked several new projects to mobilise. The rapid deployment of new requirements means new projects can be deployed in days not weeks. Adapt looks forward to continuing a strong relationship with SDC and Sicon Limited.
